Associate Structural Engineer
It's not you, it's them.
It's a well-known fact that once you reach a certain level of seniority, the opportunities to progress become slimmer and things become dependent on various factors out of your control such as; company growth, people leaving or retiring, how 'top-heavy' things are at management level and sometimes, whether the senior management like you.
Making a career move at a senior level is a big deal, too. You've worked for various different employers in the past and you've come to understand what you like and what you don't like.
At this stage in your life, you probably have a lot more things to think about too (Kids, mortgage - you know, the commitment stuff) which means a career move is a bigger deal now than it was in the past.
But does that mean you should settle?
Not if you feel like you're not progressing as you deserve. Despite having progressed to where you are now, you still have the right to progress further on merit.
